Simulated scenario
Black Saturday: trade the missiles
The goal Win the committee's backing for a deal, not a Monday strike: missiles out of Cuba, an invasion pledge, and a quiet promise on Turkey.

The situation
Washington, Saturday evening, October 1962. A U-2 was shot down over Cuba this morning and its pilot is dead. Two letters from the Soviet premier sit on the table: one offers to pull the missiles out of Cuba for a pledge not to invade, the second, broadcast hours later, demands the American missiles in Turkey leave as well. The Joint Chiefs want air strikes on Monday. The President has not chosen. You hold the floor for ten minutes before he does. The President's brother argues for answering only the first letter; the Chairman says each day of waiting lets the sites finish. Nobody here wants a war, and every man at the table knows how little time is left. You win only if this room, not the clock, makes the choice. Talk alone will not move this room; concrete terms, sequences and deadlines…

How scoring works
You have 8 turns. You win by bringing the table to at least 72% support. Your points come from how much of the table you bring around, with each person counted by how much their view carries. Each turn you say one thing. The table moves on what you say; reach 72% to win. Every turn is re-checked from the moves you made, so the score can be reproduced.
A limited number of turns are free. After that, each turn costs credits. The game shows what you have left before you spend anything.
