The owners have proposed a salary cap of 245.3 million dollars with a 171.2 million floor; the players reject any cap at all. You are the federal mediator in the room. The owners' labour committee chair says payroll gaps are breaking the game. A small-market owner wants revenue sharing he can count on. The union's chief negotiator calls a cap collusion. A veteran player representative wants earlier free agency for older players. You win when both sides sign a framework that keeps talks going past 1 December with no lockout.
